Book Fairs eBook Dan Poynter Reviews
Dan writes a lot of good material and this is no exception. Only problem is, I bought the book as an author planning to attend book fairs where you submit your book, it gets reviewed and you either get invited to attend or you don't. If you attend, there is no fee for a table to sell your book that got accepted into the fair and these events are usually run by state arts councils as fundraisers for public libraries or the humanities work in that state. And your buyers are almost exclusively, readers. Not so, Dan's book.
This book is written for publishers first and authors second, who are attending a TRADE show for publishers. His example when you read past the table of contents is Book Expo America. That's a trade show to me - not a book fair. I bought an apple when I needed an orange. I'm writing this review to help others to not make the same mistake I made. If you are applying to a state book fair to sell your book to readers, this book is not really for you. If you are planning to exhibit at a trade show and sell to bookstores, libraries and the industry, this book is for you.
The description on could make this distinction better to avoid this situation from occurring again. To Dan's credit, he uses the word "Publishers" in the sub-title. Is it possible only I could screw up this bad?
